About me

About me

My name is Karen Landmark. I live in Norway together with my two children. I have always had a close relationship with nature, and I spend as much time as I can outdoors – often climbing, skiing, or simply walking in the forest. Nature has been my teacher and my companion – a place where I find stillness, strength, and meaning. Its rhythms have shaped my choices, both in education and in my professional life, as well as in the way I live.

Academically, I hold a PhD in societal transitions, where I explored the historical and contemporary relationship between humans and nature, and examined how corporate sustainability is understood and put into practice in companies. This research continues to inform the way I see both our current challenges and the possibilities for transformation.

For many years, I worked in the field of environmental science and policy, renewable energy, strategy, and societal development, holding leadership positions in Norway and internationally. At the same time, I have always carried a deep longing to understand more about the connection between the outer work we do in the world and the inner transformations we go through as individuals.

In recent years, I have become more engaged in the regenerative field. I have come to see that sustainability is no longer enough – we need to repair, regenerate, and revitalize. This insight does not only apply to ecosystems and societies, but also to ourselves. How can we contribute to transformation if we are not willing to transform within?

I am passionate about personal transformation – how we can meet today’s crises with greater presence, courage, and compassion, and how we can grow into a deeper experience of oneness with the living world. Writing is one of the ways I explore these questions. I also find inspiration in reading, in the depth of conversations, and in cultivating quality in relationships – with family, friends, colleagues, and the communities I engage with.

My guiding values are courage, compassion, and oneness – and I believe that by living these values, both in work and in life, we can find new ways forward, together.

On this site, I will publish my texts, in Norwegian and sometimes in English. My texts have been published in several magazines and Norwegian newspapers. Hopefully, they can spark thoughts and conversations.
